West Allis, WI – Triad Construction Inc. is proud to announce the completion of a construction project that will improve the quality of life for one of Milwaukee’s children.

Luis is a four year-old boy who has cerebral palsy, vision impairment, and developmental delays. Because he is unable to navigate stairs, his parents have been forced to carry him and his wheelchair down their home’s front stairs for Luis to board the school bus each day.
Together with Variety – The Children’s Charity of Wisconsin, Triad Vice President Mike Dassow prepared a site plan to put in place a six foot lift to transport Luis from his front porch to the sidewalk. Once plans were approved, the Triad Construction team donated the labor and the materials to complete the project. Everyone got involved, including the families of Triad staff and Luis’ father, a Milwaukee area apprentice carpenter.

Variety initially approached Triad Construction about providing a site plan, labor, and materials for this project in March. Luis’ family had contacted Variety because the non-profit organization specializes in helping children with disabilities gain mobility, freedom, and independence. After meeting the family, the Triad Construction team decided to help – despite the dire conditions of the construction industry’s economic slump.

“Good people need help – especially in a troubled economy. Now is not the time to look the other way,” says Triad Construction Vice President Mike Dassow about his reasons for taking on the project. “There was no way we could pass up this opportunity, not after hearing Luis’ story. And, once we spread the news, other businesses were eager to help, too.” Other companies that lent their support to the project include Bend Industries, Central Ready Mixed Concrete, LandCraft Survey and Engineering, and The Home Depot.
A ribbon-cutting event will celebrate the completion of this project at 3 p.m. on Friday, May 7, at the family’s Milwaukee home. Their house is located at 1943 South 6th Street, Milwaukee. All are welcome.
